I painted this as an homage to Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. I had just learned about Jung this year and was diving deep into his writings. With this painting I was trying to create the image in one pass or layer. Typically my paintings are like an onion and have many semi-transparent layers making up one full, final image. With this one I painted the green/blue background first then painted Jung in one pass, with a second layer only to add small details.
